Getting ready for 2014-15

The start of the school year for me has always meant a chance to try out new ideas. This year is looking to be no different. The Educational Technology team is thrilled to have joined with the Professional Development Department. As a new department we know this partnership will lead to enhanced professional development opportunities for everyone in FSUSD. We are truly here to support the work you do by making sure you have the skills, tools, and resources to stay on the cutting edge of your work.

The Ed Tech team is excited to announce that every school site within FSUSD has been assigned an Education Technology Specialists to work with you to support the integration of technology into your classroom. In the coming posts you will be introduce to the entire team. We really look forward to working with you this year.

We know there will be a lot of work done this year around lesson planning for the new Units of Instruction in Math and ELA/ELD, so the Ed Tech team has been working on a Digital Literacy Matrix to help teachers understand how and where they can integrate technology into their lessons. Once complete, the matrix will be shared with school sites for use and implementation. We know that this matrix will be a work in progress and is likely to go through a few revisions as the school year progresses. We hope you will provide us with feedback as we make improvements.

Some of the Ed Tech team's major projects this year will include:
  • Working directly with teachers to support the integration of technology into the classroom
  • Providing high quality professional development
  • Educating the entire FSUSD community about the importance of Digital Citizenship
  • Establishing an Educational Technology Committee
    • Developing a vision for Educational Technology in FSUSD
    • Revising the FSUSD Educational Technology Plan
  • Supporting schools as they develop a vision for Educational Technology
  • Expanding Professional Learning Networks (PLN) through the use of Social Media
  • Increasing participation in the second annual Hour of Code
Keep checking back with us to see and hear about all the great things the Ed Tech team is working on this school year!
